Notes ----- This is a branch off the v0.50 patch. It is an experimental build of the FE4 project. These builds are unofficial and are not part of the main project, but will probably be merged with the offical project sometime in the future. As of v0.50.5-jay, all work from the J2E project has been removed. Therefore, there are 2 versions of the FE4 project. The v0.50.4.x-jay series contains the lastest work with J2E patch merged, while releases from v0.50.5-jay and up are without. Build instructions ------------------ This project is to be built under Linux. Please install the following: * gcc v2.95.x * libSDL v1.2.0 or greater (optional) Please also install the following packs: * sif v5.0 or greater (required) * libtbl v1.0 * 65816 v2.0-2 Place 'fe4.smc' into the base directory of the project. To install the packs, place all the files into the base directory of the project and unpack them. Run the script ./configure to configure the project. It will also attempt to download any packs as required. Don't bother with the configure options. They are not used. Also, run patch-update.sh periodically to download and install patches. Special code examples: [k] -> Means the text will pause until it recieves a key press from the user [n] -> Insert a newline [cs] -> Clears the text box [sp] -> Inserts a space [dcs] -> Clears both text boxes [Wait xx] -> Replace xx with the time to pause the text [exit] -> Finish text dialog [TWinTop][TWinBot][DlgOpn] are used internally by the game and are best left alone In order to translate, all japanese characters must be deleted and replaced with english ones. Therefore, if you type: Hey how are you It gets parsed as: Hey how are you because the whitespaces don't matter. If you need to insert spaces and newlines, use the [sp] and [n] codes to force one in. It is best to not use the above codes unless required to to allow automatic wrapping to work optimally. [k] codes (wait for key presses) are also automatically inserted after every 3 lines. Therefore, you should delete all [k] except for the last one before a character switch to prevent unneccesary stopping in the text. Ex.
